Let's talk about butt pads

Hopefully, when you read this, you’ll be thinking what?! Butt pads? What the heck are they? If not, I’m sorry that you have as they’re one of the latest ways in which women are being encouraged to appear different to their natural body shape.  Because, in case you’ve been living under a rock, at the moment, big booty's are “in”. Which is why there are companies out there selling Butt Enhancing Lifters and Fabric Pads, to help thee project thy booty.  That’s right, for the...

Tikitapu Tiki Tour - A story of 100km's in the rain

It’s been a week since I ran the Tikitapu Tiki Tour, a self-supported, alternative TUM 102km ultra. I finally managed to write some words and, spoiler alert, it became a novel. But if you’re interested in hearing how the day unfolded for me and my friend Caro, read on.  After plotting the course and deciding on the name, we left the rest up to our Colour Queens crew/Race Directors – Leigh, Pelin and Claire – who did superb job of organising the race, complete with formal briefings, ...

Belt Bags - our newest product

Here at Zeenya HQ we LOVE turning our offcut scrap fabric into something useful. While our fabrics are biodegradable, we believe the less fabric going to waste the better.  In the past we've done collaborations with Offcut Caps for hats, Maquinky for masks, and now we're producing our own Belt Bags.  Created from the scraps of our NZ Made styles which don't feature pockets, these easy to use bags carry all your essentials when you're out and about. We'll make more styles from our ...

5 minutes with our Zeenya Ambassadors

Each of these 9 women inspire us everyday. Together, they’re involved in so many different sports and recreation activities - from yoga, running, triathlon and multisport to paddling, surfing and more. They help us by spreading the good word about Zeenya, they role-model positive self image and they move their bods with joy while embracing life through colour. We got chatting with Stacey, Erin, Kate, Rebecca, Eve, Sarah, Heather, Hania and Aria - and it turns out, between them, there’s a hea...

New Product: Scoop crop

It's been a hot minute since we've updated our crop styles, and this year we've been working away on creating a new style. It's taken some serious back and forth, but we're so stoked to have stuck it out and proud to bring you our new Scoop Crop.  A low rounded back, wide underbust band and the ability to pop your own inserts in has comfort right at the top of this crops priorities.  We've so far launched it just in our beautiful Artist Collection prints, and already it's proving ...

Inspiring Human: Rachael Tobeck

It’s a marathon (or in Rachael’s case a miler) not a sprint. She follows a simple mantra of finding what you enjoy, then doing it - despite the obstacles life throws your way. Rachael is best found in her happy place, running in nature. A strong, independent woman, she credits the support from her mum and dad to helping her become the woman she is today.  Her journey to running began when she was in her 20s. Rachael wanted to become a police officer and started jogging to build up to th...

Glow NZ Made - All the details

We’ve pulled the pin on our usual pre-sales for NZ Made. Not just for this collection, but going forward. There’s lots of hats (or leggings) to wear when running a small biz, and this small change is gonna make a big difference for us. What’s better than pre-sales? Joining our email crew (right here) Word on the street is you *might*  get new collection access a teeny bit sooner. Wink wink, nudge nudge.  Custom size orders aren’t going anywhere. Because every bod in our prints ...

Artist Collection Winner: Stephen Maddock

Drawing and creating is as natural to Steve as taking a breath. Having been raised in Wainuiomata by his parents Joan and David, it seems like being a hands-on artist in the world of tattoo was a natural outlet for his creativity. Joan always tinkered with art and had art supplies for her kids. Both Steve and his brother, Antony (running Smart Arts in Lower Hutt), have followed artistic professions. His sister Monique also was artistic with sewing and craft work as well as supporting her brother...

7 years, no itch, but plenty of learnings

It’s not often you get to wish a woman in her 30’s ‘Happy 7th Birthday’ (unless she’s born on a leap year). It’s a pretty unusual feeling. With that in mind, I’ve decided to share my top seven things that I’ve learned about running a small business here in Aotearoa.   Lesson 1: You are NOT your business. For so long I tied my self-identity to the success of my business. We all know that connecting our self worth to anything external to ourselves is a losing game. B...

Glow Collection - shining your way soon

Alright Zeenya friends, we need to give you a bit of an update. Promise to make it short and sweet.  Our Glow Sport Range collection will now be launched to the public on Wednesday 22nd of Sept at 8am. Why? Well, we were hopeful that the final two boxes of stock that we're missing might have arrived by tomorrow. Sadly, this isn't going to be the case.  In fact, it's pretty likely at this stage we will be missing one box of stock completely and while it's not zero, the chances of it act...

Inspiring Human: Lissy Robinson-Cole

Lissy Robinson-Cole believes in joy. From the tip of her toes, to her heart and out into the world through the energy and aroha she creates. This woman is the embodiment of colour and connection. If we hadn’t met her before we started Zeenya, she sure would have inspired us to do so.  An Auckland gal through and through, Lissy grew up in Mount Eden. She’s a real city lover and couldn’t ever imagine living life in small town NZ. She loves the lights and hubbub of bigger cities and Auck...

Artist Collection Finalist: Paitangi Ostick

Paitangi is a multi medium artist living in Paihia in the stunning Bay of Islands. Her journey to connect with her māoritanga began as a teenager as she became more curious about her Maori heritage. Always creative from an early age, she has been self taught initially. As a young single mother her artwork evolved from being a hobby to much needed income for her whanau.  As she has evolved, so have the ways she creates. Her skills now include painting, weaving korowai, carving bone, stone, ...

Artist Collection Finalist: Eden Te Puni

Perth based Artist Eden Te Puni is the wahine behind the prints and artwork at Puawai Creative. An interior designer by trade, Eden’s current work is a celebration of womanhood, Mother Nature and her own personal growth. A proud Maori wahine and mother of two daughters, she feels as though everything in her life has led her to be creative, including the birth of her children. By tuning into her heart, she’s tapped into the knowledge of connection through art. She is driven to create, to brin...

Artist Collection Finalist: Jana Patete

A strong sense of self and of her whakapapa, creativity was always encouraged and celebrated in Jana’s home. Kaupapa Maori strongly influences her work and continues to do so. Jana is currently studying in her second year of a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts with Honours at Massey University in Wellington.  Her inspiration flows from her surroundings and whanau which means the work she creates is deeply personal. The design she created for her submission for the Artist Collection is a tribut...

Artist Collection Finalist: Lissy Cole

Lissy is an Auckland based artist who has always created from her wildest imagination. Heavily influenced by her father, renowned fashion designer Colin Cole, she’s spent her life around textiles and fashion. Her current passion is crochet and you’ll find her works typically done in bright neon colours bringing joy and happiness to the spaces they fill. Her inspiration comes from within and her connection to her tūpuna. She feels as though she is the vessel for her creativity which flows th...

Artist Collection Finalist: Lyndy Wilson

Always starting from a wash of colour, Lyndy’s work is inspired by her natural environment. Living in Ngāruawāhia she is surrounded by it. From the flowing Waikato and Waipa rivers to the ever changing Hakariamata ranges, Lyndy’s bright work is an extension of her way of living. She creates layer upon layer, getting lost in the joy of the moment being guided by her instinct.  She grew up surrounded by her talented whānau. Both her Great Grandfather and Uncles were whakairo artists (c...

Colour in the Cold - Wrap up

Ok, so upon greater reflection, it's fair to say that perhaps July was a little bit later than necessary for Colour in the Cold 2021. We promise next year, we'll put it back to June!  Our Zeenya community are a bunch of legends, with 42 people registered to take part all around New Zealand, we knew it was going to be a fun day on the 18th of July.  With the help of our fans and amazing Ambassadors we had groups take a dip in cold water to help us raise much needed funds for Variety - t...

Inspiring Human - Maria Amos

Christchurch based runner and business owner Maria Amos has a pretty adventurous soul. Over the past four years though, things have had to slow down for her after a snowboarding accident at Mt Hutt. She’s slowly returning to running but the journey hasn’t been straight forward.  Maria was born in Tauranga, living the beach lifestyle for a few years before her parents moved her and her younger sister to Great Barrier Island. They had a great childhood on the island, always surrounded by ...

Inspiring Human - Charmayne Johnstone

Charmayne tells us that by leading an active life, regardless of age, she’s setting an example to her family, especially her 10 (almost 11) grandchildren and friends. But Charmayne - as an accomplished swimmer, triathlete and ironman you’re not only setting an example but you’re an absolute inspiration to us all. Born in Auckland, 1952. Charmayne, along with her 2 younger brothers, had a happy childhood. Doing all the normal things that children did in those days - playing outside until da...

And the third will be a commission by submission piece from a Māori artist or designer. Once submissions close, we'll be selecting ...
