Colour in the Cold was a roaring success with people all over New Zealand getting dressed up in their brightest outfits and jumping into cold water. You might be wondering why? We'll, we decided after so many people rallied around to support NZ companies during the Covid-19 lockdown, it was time to pay it forward and support those less fortunate this winter.
Chloe has her own tradition of swimming on the shortest day of the year, so this year it was time for others to join in, all to raise money for Variety - the Children's Charity and their winter appeal.
Since Zeenya is all about the colour life, it was only natural that we went for a dress up theme. Wearing items as bright as possible to boost what was a pretty grey day around NZ. From the Mangawhai Heads in the North, to Christchurch in the South, groups and individuals took on the challenge.
Together we raised over $2400 on our fundraising page for Variety, which means 6 children will get actual beds and warm bedding packs to keep them cosy this winter.
Totally worth a few moments of discomfort to give Kiwi kids somewhere warm in their homes to rest at night.
We were supported with some spot prizes from the Cookie Time Charitable Trust, Miss Currant, Zero Twenty2 Sports Co and Tailwind Nutrition. So please, if you get a chance to support these epic NZ companies please do.
We want to say a huge thank you to our Ambassador Team who hosted events in their home cities of Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Wellington.
We were so blown away by the support received for this fundraiser and we want to thank everyone who took part and donated. You've really made a difference to the lives of Kiwi kids. From the bottom of our colour-loving hearts, we thank you.
It's never too late to support Variety. The do incredible work all year round with opportunities such as grants for kids to excel in their chosen activities as well as supporting at risk young people. You can make a donation anytime here https://heartlink.variety.org.nz/donation/
