Runner and Coach (Palmerston North)

Based down in the mighty Manawatu, Kate is legendary in the local running communities. With three boys in tow, you'll often find her leading groups, encouraging others both online and in person as well working for the local running club, Manawatu Striders

They're a very active family, and you'll often see Kate and her husband completing events together. They've done the Queenstown Half Marathon, Taupo Ultra 24km and most recently the Lake Mangamahoe (Taranaki) Off Road Half Marathon. She says it's a great excuse to have a weekend away without the kids once in a while.

Not only does Kate work for the Striders, but she helped set up the Palmerston North parkrun in 2017, then became a run coach with the global movement 261 Fearless. This group is all focused on empowering women through running (definitely our kind of movement). Kate thrives off getting alongside other runners and celebrating with them as they discover more of themselves.

Having always said she would never run a Marathon, Kate this year has taken the big leap and entered the Hawkes Bay Marathon in May!

Like every Mum, her biggest challenges at the moment are keeping on top of work (she's also self employed with a family company), family, home, volunteering role and her own fitness goals. Knowing how overwhelming it can be, Kate knows the power of asking for help and saying no when she has to.

We asked Kate what she's most grateful for - her family. Always supportive of each other, she feels very blessed to have them around her.
